Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (Happy Holidays in
general!)...we had a very successful 2017 Annual Training Conference in San Marcos this month with over 70 in attendance. We are very greatful to Michael Abraham, our instructor, for passing
along his knowledge on electrical aspects of fire investigation and also to John Overstreet for teaching the 3185 TCOLE legislative updates.
During the annual business meeting, elections were held
for the Board of Directors. John Perry, Fire Marshal for the City of Schertz was elected to the Board for a 3 year term, replacing Allen McClintock. I thank Allen for his service to the
Association during his tenure on the Board. All of our officers were re-elected to another term, including myself, and I am very blessed and thankful to serve another year as the President of
the Association. Lt. Randy Elmore with Austin FD Arson Division was elected to a 3 year term on the Board and current Board Chairman, Clint Browning (Hays Co FMO) was also re-elected to a 3
year term. I want to express my appreciation to all current and past board members for making this Association into what it has become.
We also presented amendments to our Constitution and
Bylaws. These proposed amendments were all approved by acclaimation by the membership. The newly amended Constitution and Bylaws can be downloaded by visiting the Members Only section
(password required) and clicking on the CTFIA Archive link in the upper left section of the page.
Current CTFIA members have access to the "Members Only"
section which also features a new forums board that allows members to interact with each other which is great for Q&A's.
I appreciate the support and hard work of every one of our
directors and officers in helping to make our 2017 trainings a success. I am excited to see what 2018 has in store for the Association! If you have any suggestions or ideas of things that
would make our association better, please drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org - I would love to hear from
Wishing you all the best,
Central Texas Fire Investigators' Association
